Women's Cross Country Locked in for Pre-Nationals in Louisville

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The women's cross country team travels to the 20th annual Louisville Cross Country Classic in Kentucky. The meet consists of over 10 races throughout the day and many teams across many divisions. 

The Race: The women's college blue race takes place at 11:30 a.m., with the Pre-National race shooting off at 12:45 p.m..

The Teams: Wilmington will be joined by teams from a multitude of states and cities across Division III.

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 26th season as head cross country coach at Wilmington College. A 1993 graduate of Wilmington, Combs was a member of the only cross country team to win a conference title in school history. Also the head track & field coach at the College, Combs led the Fightin' Quakers to two top-10 finishes nationally with a sixth place finish at the 2002 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships and a seventh place mark at the 2004 Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Squad: The Quakers will be heading into the race with a young squad that has experienced the competitive nature that collegiate running brings.  The upperclass duo of Milena Wahl and Savannah Rhodes look to lead the charge for the Quakers.

Up Next: Wilmington will have another week off before they host the Jenna Strong home meet on October 15th, which will be a preview race for the home course of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) conference race.
