(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - The Wilmington College volleyball team lost to the Baldwin Wallace University Yellow Jackets Saturday afternoon in their Dig Pink game, 3-0. They drop to 9-9 overall and 1-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The Yellow Jackets hit .481 during set one en route to a 25-13 win to take a 1-0 match lead. Baldwin Wallace jumped out to a quick 5-2 lead in the second set, before the Quakers would claw back and eventually take a 14-12 set lead after a 6-1 run. That run was fueled by a trio of Sofia Thomas kills along with a kill from Sarah Brown. With the set tied 16-16, the Yellow Jackets went on a set defining 5-0 run to take a 21-16 lead and would use that momentum to win the set 25-21.
Wilmington held an 11-8 lead in the third set, using a 6-0 rally to take this lead. They used some Yellow Jacket errors to secure this advantage. They would fall behind 23-19, with Baldwin Wallace looking to put the match away. The Quakers wouldn't go down without a fight though, as they went on a 6-1 run to take a 25-24 set lead and give themselves a set point. A pair of kills and an ace highlighted the run. Wilmington would have one more set point, but would ultimately drop the set in a heartbreaker, 29-27, and lose the match 3-0.
