Spring Senior Salute - Softball's Je'Taysia Johns

WILMINGTON, Ohio - Throughout the coming months, the Wilmington College athletics department will be highlighting senior student-athletes who had their senior seasons cut short due to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) pandemic.

Today's senior salute is Je'Taysia Johns.

What is your major? - Business Administration

What is your favorite class at Wilmington College? - Entrepreneurship

What is your favorite memory with the softball program? - Out of all the memories I have with the WC softball, my favorite would be our 2020 Florida Trip.

What are your plans after graduation? - Pursue a career in event planning and eventually establish my own wedding planning business.

Do you see yourself returning to Wilmington to compete in 2021? -  Softball is a huge part of my life, but unfortunately I do not see myself coming back. The way senior year ended, I would not have wanted to experience it any other way. I never seen "The Pack" so close, and this team could have done some serious damage in the OAC resulting in our dreams of winning that championship ring. Next year, "The Pack" has it for sure.

What is your message to underclassmen on the impact of COVID-19? - As I can probably speak for any senior student-athlete, never did I ever think that my athletic career would end because of a pandemic like COVID-19. As a firm believer in everything happens for a reason, better things are coming. I would not change a thing about my experience at WC or with WC Softball. To the underclassmen, first off, best of luck to you all as you are either beginning a collegiate career on and off the court/field or in the final stretch of it all. I ask that you appreciate the little things that your sport brings as I wish I would have done during my time as an athlete. Practices, workouts, games and locker room shenanigans: you never know when the last time will be. Make life long friendships and memories that you'll share with each other 20 years from now. Finally, to The Wolfpack, you ladies are an incredible group of young women with a bright future ahead of you. I wish you the best of luck on the rest of your journey, and know that I will always be there for you (WC is home and I'm only 5 minutes away, haha). Take care of each other and keep getting better each and everyday on and off the field. Thank you for making the seniors' last go-around one for the books. I am so grateful for each and everyone of you. Love you all...Wolfpack forever. - Baby Tay
