(CARLISLE, Pa.) – Senior Simon Heys finished up his Wilmington College cross country career this morning in the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships with a 33rd place finish after crossing the finish line in 25:04.4 seconds. This garnered him his third All-American honor in his collegiate cross-country career after being an All-American in 2021 and 2022.
He is not only the first three-time All-American in Wilmington men's cross country program history, but he is the only All-American in Wilmington men's cross country program history.
Heys had a historic season in 2023. He had not been defeated by a single NCAA Division III competitor coming into today's race and had only been beaten by one other runner all season long (Noah Fisher from the University of Findlay, NCAA Division II).
His head coach, Ron Combs had this to say, "Simon had an amazing season. It didn't end the way he wanted it to, but getting his third All-American award in Cross Country is something to be very proud of."
