Evan Whitaker Named OAC Men's Cross Country Freshman of the Year

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio - Wilmington College men's cross country freshman Evan Whitaker was named the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Men's Cross Country Freshman of the Year, the conference announced on Thursday.

Whitaker finished the eight-kilometer course in Northeast Ohio in 26:58.2 and a 10th place finish. He was the top finishing freshman at the event.

"Evan [Whitaker] had a really strong freshman year capped by being the top freshman at the OAC Championships," Head Men's Cross Country Coach Ron Combs said. "Evan has a great work ethic and I think that will lead to bigger and better things down the road."

As a team, the Fightin' Quakers placed seventh at the 2018 OAC Men's Cross Country Championships.
