Austin Reed Garners Academic All-District Honors from College Sports Communicators

WILMINGTON, Ohio - Austin Reed represented the Wilmington College men's swimming team's contingent on the Academic All-District team, unveiled by the College Sports Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA) on Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Reed garnered Academic All-District honors and will be on the ballot for a chance at becoming an Academic All-American. In order to qualify for nomination for Academic All-District, student-athletes must meet the following qualifications:

  • Sophomore athletically or higher
  • 3.50 cumulative grade point average or higher
  • Been enrolled at the institution for at least one calendar year
  • Starter or key reserve

A sophomore business administration major from Toledo, Ohio, Reed has swum mainly freestyle events for the Quakers throughout his two years with the program. At the 2023 Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Championships, Reed won the consolation final of the 200-yard freestyle (1:43.46) and placed third in the consolation final of both the 100-yard freestyle (47.26 seconds) and the 500-yard freestyle (4:49.76). He also competed as a member of the Quakers' 200-yard freestyle, 400-yard freestyle and 400-yard medley relay squads.

Wilmington finished its 2022-23 campaign with three dual meet victories and a fifth-place finish in the OAC.
