Men's Swimming Finishes Corbiere-Merion Invitational in Third

FINAL RESULTS

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's swimming team finished the Corbiere-Merion Invitational in third place as events on the two-day invitational wrapped up on Sunday afternoon.

The Quakers finished with 718 points, well clear of fourth-place West Virginia Wesleyan College. Davis & Elkins College won the invitational with 1,064.5 points while host Ohio Wesleyan University took runner-up with 830.5 points. 

Wilmington had won individual win an event on Sunday as Caden Traggiai's time of 17:23.20 won the 1,650-yard freestyle. Teammate Austin Faries also competed in the event, placing fourth with a mark 18:22.67. Traggiai's day wasn't done as the freshman anchored WC's 400-yard medley relay squad. Austin Reed, Cameron Bolen, Sondre Huagen and Traggiai tapped the wall in 3:42.81 to finish runners-up.

Other notable individual performances was a runner-up swim of 22.20 seconds by Bolen in the 50-yard freestyle. Two Quakers also finished in the top five of the 100-yard IM as Haugen placed second (55.95 seconds) and John Good fifth (58.17 seconds).

"This team's hard work is paying off as we had many in-season and lifetime best performances," Head Coach Trip Breen said. "This meet was a great experience. It is always fun watching the team come together, swim fast and have fun!"

Wilmington will head south for its annual training trip to Florida over the break and return to competition against The University of Mount Union on Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023.
