Men's Swimming Third After Day One of Corbiere-Merion Invitational

DELAWARE, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's swimming team tallied eight top-three finishes on the first day of the Corbiere-Merion Invitational hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Saturday. 

As a team, the Quakers sit in third place after day one with 483 points. Davis & Elkins College leads the way with 685 points while the host Battling Bishops are not far behind with 627 points while West Virginia Wesleyan College has 162 points.

Two Wilmington individuals - Dane Klosterman and Caden Traggiai - won individual events as the junior tapped the wall in 51.15 seconds in the 100-yard backstroke and the freshman claimed victory in the 500-yard freestyle (4:58.81). Two other Quakers earned runner-up placements as Austin Reed swum a time of 1:51.04 in the 200-yard freestyle and Sondre Haugen tapped the wall in 48.62 seconds in the 100-yard freestyle. Haugen also place third in the 100-yard butterfly (53.40 seconds).

Two Quaker relays turned in third-place finishes. Logan Lippert, Cameron Bolen, Phillippe and Good finished the 200-yard medley relay in 1:42.40 while Haugen, Good, Traggiai and Austin Reed turned in a mark of 3:19.67 in the 400-yard freestyle relay.

The final day of the invitational gets underway at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
