Otterbein sweeps past @DubC_Baseball

The Wilmington College baseball team dropped both ends of an Ohio Athletic Conference doubleheader with Otterbein Tuesday at Tewksbury-Delaney Field.

OTTERBEIN 5, WILMINGTON 0

Wilmington scattered nine hits, but a four-run sixth inning provided the Cardinals with more cushion as Otterbein posted the 5-0 win in the opener.

The Fightin' Quakers had runners on base in six of the nine innings, but went 0-for-7 with runners in scoring position in the loss.

Otterbein took the lead in the third inning on an RBI single with one out.

Sophomore Jake Robinson (Westerville, OH/South) went 2-for-4 with a stolen base, while freshman Antonio Miller (Cincinnati, OH/Northwestern) was 2-for-4 at the plate as well.

Senior Corey Walker, 0-7, (Hillsboro, OH/Hillsboro) allowed five runs on eight hits over 7 1/3 innings of work to take the loss.

OTTERBEIN 7, WILMINGTON 2

A pair of Wilmington hitters had two hits apiece, but behind the strength of a four-run fifth inning, the Otterbein Cardinals completed the Ohio Athletic Conference sweep with the 7-2 win.

Miller went 2-for-5, while senior Max Ramsey (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) went 2-for-4 with a run scored. Walker had WC's only extra-base hit, a first-inning double.

After falling down 4-0, Wilmington got a run back as freshman Gage Bley (Harrison, OH/Harrison) was hit with bases loaded. Bley added another RBI with a single in the seventh.

Senior Tyler Schrock, 0-4, (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) allowed six runs on 10 hits in 5 2/3 inning of work. The bullpen of senior Billy Foster (Xenia, OH/Xenia) and sophomore Tyler McDaniel (Trenton, OH/Edgewood) combined to allow one unearned run in 3 1/3 innings.

Wilmington (4-29 overall, 1-11 OAC) hosts Marietta 1 p.m. Saturday at Tewksbury-Delaney Field. The Fightin' Quakers will honor their six seniors between games.
