The Wilmington College volleyball put up a tough battle against regional power Westminster Saturday, falling in straight sets (25-14, 25-20, 25-20) in non-conference action at Fred Raizk Arena in Hermann Court.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Freshman Ariel Goforth (Memphis, TN/Bartlett) led the team with eight kills on 25 attempts.
  • Three different players registered double-figure digs with sophomore Alyssa McKenzie (Adrian, MI/Adrian) leading the team with 12. Sophomore Amber Rox (Lawrenburg, IN/Lawrenceburg) and freshman Jillian Wesco (Troy, OH/Miami East) finished with 10 digs each.
  • McKenzie added a team-high 17 assists for the Fightin' Quakers.

COACHES CORNER

"Westminster played a great game, and I think we were a little out-matched at the net," said Wilmington head coach Tim O'Brien. "They were very physical, but we hung tough for all three sets. I was happy with our ability to continue fighting and making a majority of the sets close."

WHAT'S NEXT

Wilmington (4-10) remains home 7 p.m. Tuesday, hosting Transylvania in non-conference action.
