NORTH MANCHESTER, IN – The Wilmington College volleyball team opened the Manchester University Invitational by falling to the host Spartans in straight sets, 25-18, 25-12, 25-20, Friday.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Freshman Ariel Goforth (Memphis, TN/Bartlett) led the team with eight kills on 30 attempts. She added 12 digs for the Fightin' Quakers.
- Freshman Karley Schlensker (Fairfield, OH/Stephen T. Badin) added six kills on 16 attempts, and seven digs.
- Sophomore Amber Rox (Lawrenceburg, IN/Lawrenceburg) had a team-high 17 digs.
- Freshman Lauryn Griewahn (Adrian, MI/Adrian) recorded her first career double-double with 21 assists and 10 digs.
COACHES CORNER
"We played well tonight and our team was able to execute a majority of our game plan," said Wilmington head coach Tim O'Brien. "I think we are starting to put some of the pieces together for us to be more successful. I thought tonight was our best defensive match of the year by far."

Wilmington plays Boyce College 11 a.m. Saturday and Governors State 1 p.m. Saturday to round out play at the Manchester University Invitational.
