Five Softball Players Earn CSC Academic All-District Honors

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College softball team had five individuals earn Academic All-District honors as the College Sports Communicators (formerly known as CoSIDA) announced the honorees on Tuesday, May 16.

McKenna Archey, Olivia Doll, Judaea Wilson, Rachel Berry and Lindsey Carter garnered Academic All-District honors and will be on the ballot for a chance at becoming an Academic All-American. In order to qualify for nomination for Academic All-District, student-athletes must meet the following qualifications:

  • Sophomore athletically or higher
  • 3.50 cumulative grade point average or higher
  • Been enrolled at the institution for at least one calendar year
  • Starter or key reserve

Archey, a junior social work major from West Jefferson, appeared in 31 games playing either catcher or designated play and carried a .341 batting average. She drove in 16 runs with just eight strikeouts and hit two of the squad's four home runs on the season.

Doll, a junior agriculture major from Cincinnati, carried a .357 batting average having appeared in 30 games playing primarily second base. She drove in 13 runs with three of her 30 hits being of the extra-base variety.

Wilson, a sophomore education major from Delaware, led the team in at bats (130), hits (51), average (.392) and runs scored (28). The All-Region honoree a season ago drove in a dozen run and started every game at third base.

Berry, a sophomore exercise science major from Lebanon, finished the season with a .344 batting average having appeared in 34 games as an outfielder. She drove in 14 runs, hit three doubles, and stole three bases.

Carter, a junior from Clarksville, was a Second Team All-Ohio selection and held a .376 batting average and a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage as an outfielder. She started all 37 games and led the team in doubles (9) as well as accounting for two of the four home runs. 

Wilmington finished its 2022-23 campaign with a 16-21 overall record including a 3-15 mark in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) contests.
