WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College softball team hosts Bluffton University in the Quakers' home-opener on Wednesday. First pitch for the twinbill is slated for 3 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Bluffton. The Quakers enter the contest with an 8-4 overall record having went 8-2 on its spring trip to Florida over spring break last week. The Beavers stand at 7-5 on the season having most recently swept a twinbill with Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) member Heidelberg University.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 16th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. The winningest softball coach in school history, she also heads the College's coaching minor. Floyd has led the Quakers to the program's first winning season with a 20-16 record in 2013. Paige Jansen, formerly the head coach at Findlay High School, is in her first season as Bluffton's head coach. 

The Hitters: Wilmington hits a .388 clip as a team with the top of its order getting on base often. Judaea Wilson carries a .532 batting average with a team-best 26 hits to go along with 16 runs scored. Rachel Berry, Lindsey Carter, Logann Julian and Olivia Doll all hit .400 or better with Carter's four doubles leading the team. Julian and Samantha Schwab have both driven in a dozen runs. Bobbi Adams has had a fantastic start to her senior season, leading Bluffoton in average (.462), hits (18), home runs (4) and RBIs (14).

The Pitchers: Four Quakers have thrown at least a dozen winnings with Alexis Stringfellow leading the way at 24.2 innings. She's joined by Izz Rothrock to boast ERAs under 2.00 with Rothrock leading WC in strikeouts with 19. Hillary Huffer and Avree Entler have both pitched meaningful innings for the Quakers as well. Both Erin Norman and Grace Fillinger have pitched over 33 innings for Bluffton and both have ERAs under. 3.00.
