WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College softball team heads to Florida for its annual spring trip this weekend. In total, the Quakers will play 10 games over a five-day period, beginning on Sunday, March 12 and concluding on Thursday, March 16.
The Schedule: Wilmington will play SUNY Brockport and and SUNY Delhi at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Sunday with the remainder of the Quakers' contests being at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. MCLA and Crown College are slated for Monday, St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn and Western Connecticut State on Tuesday, Alfred State University and the University of Wisconsin-Superior on Wednesday and Lesley College and Westfield State University on Thursday.
The Teams: Wilmington is looking to build upon a 13-19 campaign from a season ago. The Quakers fell in their season-opening twinbill and Franklin College and had their home-opener with Miami University-Hamilton cancelled. The records, both in the current season and the 2022 campaign, are as follows: SUNY Brockport (1-0, 13-19 in 2022), SUNY Delhi (0-0, 7-18 in 2022), MCLA (0-0, 5-30 in 2022), Crown (0-8, 8-20 in 2022), St. Joseph's (0-0, 24-14 in 2022), WestConn (1-2, 15-25 in 2022), Alfred State (0-0, 10-24 in 2022), UW-Superior (2-2, 33-10 in 2022), Lesley (0-0, 18-17 in 2022), Westfield State (0-0, 18-19 in 2022).
The Coach: Beth Floyd is in her 16th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. The winningest softball coach in school history, she also heads the College's coaching minor. Floyd has led the Quakers to the program's first winning season with a 20-16 record in 2013.
The Hitters: Logann Julian and Lindsey Carter both hit .400 or better for Wilmington through two games this season. Carter and Samantha Schwab have hit doubles for the Quakers while Schwab leads the team in RBIs.
The Pitchers: Freshman Avree Entler has pithced 3.1 innings of scoreless softball and allowed just two hits in her first career appearance against Franklin last weekend. Starter Izzy Rothroth carries a 2.80 ERA with five innings pitched.
