WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a four-game series against Ohio Northern University this weekend. The Fightin' Quakers will head to Ada on Saturday and host the Polar Beras on Sunday. Both days are slated to begin at 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Ohio Northern (ONU). The Quakers enter the weekend with an even 12-12 record on the season including an 11-9 conference mark after taking 3-of-4 games from Otterbein University last weekend. The Polar Bears are 10-9-1 overall and 10-9 in conference competition after the home team won each game in a four-game series with Heidelberg University.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 14th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and is also the College's associate director of athletics. Floyd has led the Quakers to the program's first winning season with a 20-16 record in 2013. Jackie Price, an alumna of ONU and former All-American, is in her fifth season as the Polar Bears' head coach.

The Hitters: Two Wilmington freshmen – Arianna Layne and Lindsey Carter – lead the team in batting average over a .340 clip with Layne leading the squad with 20 RBIs. Sophomore Lizz Hadley and senior Megan Crager both hit over a .300 clip with Hadley driving in 13 runs while Suchland has a team-best six home runs. Sydney Motylinski leads ONU in home runs (6) and RBIs (20) while Brady Guest and Gabby Stewart have also hit three or more home runs.

The Pitchers: Alexis Stringfellow, Lindsey Carter and Hayley Suchland have all pitched over 33 innings for Wilmington. Stringfellow has a team-best 2.95 earned run average while Suchland has 32 strikeouts. Brook Crosby and Jess Gunter both have over 30 strikeouts for the Cardinals' pitching staff. Stacey Walters has pitched nearly half of ONU's innings in the circle and carries a 4.20 ERA and 40 strikeouts in over 63 innings pitched.
