SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team opens Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play this weekend with a series against Baldwin Wallace University this weekend. The Fightin' Quakers will host the Yellow Jackets on Saturday and travel to Berea on Sunday. First pitch of both days is slated for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Baldwin Wallace (BW). The Quakers are an even 4-4 on the season, but sit at 3-1 in OAC competition after splitting a doubleheader in Tiffin and taking both games of a twinbill at home against Heidelberg University over the weekend. The Yellow Jackets are 4-2 on the season and an even 2-2 in conference play. In BW's series with Muskingum University, the home team won all four games.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is starting her 14th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and is also the College's associate director of athletics. Floyd has led the Quakers to the program's first winning season with a 20-16 record in 2013. Tom Spencer, twice named the OAC Coach of the Year, is in his 17th season as BW's head softball coach.

The Hitters: A trio of Quakers – Lindsey Carter, Arianna Layne and Lizz Hadley – hit over a .400 clip with Carter leading the way with a .571 batting average. Carter has also stolen two bases, along with Megan Crager who delivered a walk-off hit in Wilmington's 3-2 triumph over Heidelberg in game three of that series. Raegan Thompson leads BW offensively with a .667 batting average in 15 at bats. Bridie Bricker had a team-best six RBIs.

The Pitchers: Hayley Suchland has pitched a team-high 22.2 innings for Wilmington and carries a 3.40 ERA with 16 strikeouts. Hillary Huffer and Lindsey Carter both have ERAs in the low-4.00s. Nikki Camarati and Hannah Welling have split the starting duties for BW. Camarati averages nearly two strikeouts per inning and has a 3.15 ERA while Welling carries a 2.58 ERA in 19 innings pitched.

Series History: Wilmington is 8-14 against Baldwin Wallace in the last decade with the Yellow Jackets winning the last three meetings. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
