Borgan and Durr Throw Their Way to All-American Honors Friday Morning

(VIRGINIA BEACH, Va.) – For the first time in their Quakers career, Nathen Borgan and Jarrett Durr earned All-American honors during the Indoor Track & Field season. They were both named All-Americans in the Hammer Throw during the Outdoor season in the spring of 2023.

The two juniors competed at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships Friday morning in the Weight Throw. Borgan finished seventh with a program record mark of 19.45m, while Durr finished eighth with a personal best toss of 19.22m. Wilmington was the lone school to have multiple All-Americans in the event. The duo became the first All-Americans for Wilmington in the Weight Throw since Hank Benedict finished third in the event during the 2002 indoor season.

Durr got the action started in the first flight of throwers by obliterating his previous personal best of 18.68m, by throwing it 18.97m. He followed this toss with marks of 18.95m and 18.94m. These were good enough to get him into the finals of the event. Borgan's first three attempts were for marks of 19.17m, 19.45m, and 19.33m. This also got him into the finals, where nine total throwers advanced.

In the finals, Borgan wouldn't improve on his best mark of 19.45m, as he had tosses of 19.36m, 18.93m, and 18.99m. Durr, however, would improve. His fourth throw was for 19.14m, before having his best throw of 19.22m. His final toss was 18.80m.
