Borgan Breaks Program Record in Third Place Finish at Muskingum

(NEW CONCORD, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's track & field team competed Friday afternoon at the Muskie Meet #4, hosted by Muskingum University. The Quakers continued their solid season with a third-place finish and 104 team points.

The Quakers had four competitors earn double-digit points in Noah Tobin (15), Justin Shuga (14), Tate Yoder (12), Brady Vilvens (10), and Nathen Borgan (10). Overall, 12 Quakers scored in the meet.

Borgan broke the program record in the Weight Throw with a massive toss of 19.22m on his third attempt, crushing the previous record of 18.70m set by Hank Benedict in 2001. He won the event by well over two meters for his 10 points in the meet. His mark is good for seventh in Division III in the weight throw.

Tobin won the 3000 Meter Run by nearly 12 seconds at 9:11.86 to score 10 points and finished fourth in the Mile with a time of 4:29.17 for another five points. Shuga was second in the Shot Put at 14.36m on his third attempt for eight points. He took third in the Weight Throw with a mark of 17.69m on his fourth attempt, scoring another six points for Wilmington.

Tate Yoder had a pair of third place finishes to score 12 points for the Quakers. He set a personal best in the Mile at 4:27.76 and finished the 800 Meter Run in 2:04.19. Vilvens competed in both the High Jump and Triple Jump. He didn't post a mark in the high jump and won the triple jump with a season best jump of 13.00m for 10 points.

Noah Paxton scored in three events for the Quakers, for a total of nine points. He scored four points with a sixth-place finish in the 400 Meter Dash and a time of 55.88. He was sixth in the 200 Meter Dash for three points, running a 24.57. After running a 7.33 in the 60 Meter Dash Prelims, he followed it up with a 7.53 in the finals, a seventh place finish and two points.

Gabe Moore scored nine points and set a personal best time in the Mile of 4:50.67, finishing sixth for three points. He was third in the 3000 Meter Run with a time of 9:32.88 for six points. Jarrett Durr finished the Weight Throw in second place for eight points with a mark of 17.82m on his second attempt.

A trio of Quakers in Tyler Parks, Mike Soltis, and Nate Marcum all scored five points. Parks finished fourth in the 3000 Meter Run at 9:37.42. Marcum was fourth in the Weight Throw with a toss of 16.35m on his second attempt. Soltis was fourth in the Shot Put at 14.03m on his fifth attempt. Perry Kingrey also scored two points for Wilmington with an eighth-place finish in the Weight Throw after a toss of 13.33m on his second attempt.
