A Pair of Quakers Finish in Top-Five of Events During Day Two at OAC Championships

(AKRON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team finished up day two of the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday night in fifth place with a team score of 138.

Individually, the Quakers had two men in the 'A' finals of events and four men in the 'B' finals of events. Leading the way in the 'A' finals of the 50 Yard Freestyle was senior Cameron Bolen, who finished third with a time of 20.86 after swimming a 20.80 in the prelims this morning. He scored 16 points for the Quakers. The other swimmer in the 'A' final was freshman Joakim Pedersen, who finished fifth in the 200 Yard IM at 1:54.34, after swimming a 1:54.75 in the prelims.

The Quakers best finishers in the 'B' finals were Austin Reed and Sondre Haugen. Reed won the 'B' final to finish ninth in the 500 Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:47.02, destroying his prelim time of 4:51.25. Reed had a better time than two 'A' final competitors but was relegated to ninth place due to competing in the 'B' final. Haugen took third in the 'B' final with a time of 21.61 in the 50 Yard Freestyle, giving him 11th place overall. He bested his prelim time, which was a 21.90.

The Quakers also took fourth as a team in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay where Bolen, Pedersen, John Good, and Haugen finished with a time of 1:24.95, shaving off nearly eight seconds after a 1:32.74 in the prelims. The quickest leg came from Pedersen at 21.05.

The Quakers are back in the pool at 10:00 A.M. tomorrow morning for prelims on day three at the OAC Championships, with finals set for 6:00 P.M.
