Sondre Haugen Earns Second OAC Swimmer of the Week Honor this Season

(WESTERVILLE, Ohio) – The Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) announced their athletes of the week this afternoon and Quakers sophomore Sondre Haugen took home the OAC Men's Swimmer of the Week honor for the second time this season. The first time he was honored was on November 13th.

The Quakers defeated the Heidelberg University Student Princes 145-25 on the road Saturday afternoon and Haugen was a big part of the Quakers success. He saw the pool in four different events and was a part of two winning relay teams and won two individual events.

His first event was the 200 Yard Medley Relay where the team of Joakim Pedersen, Cameron Bolen, Haugen, and John Good swam a time of 1:43.56 for the victory. Haugen's 50 Yard time of 24.46 was second best on the team behind Good's anchor lap of 22.53.

Haugen followed this up with an individual victory in the 100 Yard Butterfly, swimming a 56.56 (26.11, 30.45) to win the event by nearly five seconds and was the only swimmer to finish in under a minute. A win in the 500 Yard Freestyle was up next for Haugen, as he touched the wall in 5:07.93. His best lap of the event was his first in 26.44 seconds.

His last event was the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay, where Haugen, Austin Reed, Bolen, and Logan Lippert finished with a time of 3:25.79 to win the event. His 100 Yard time of 49.93 trailed only Bolen's mark of 47.84 for the best on the team.

The Quakers are back on the road Saturday afternoon as they travel to Alliance, Ohio to battle the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders in OAC action at 1:00 P.M.
