Men's Swimming Pushes Past Hiram College Saturday at Home

(WILMINGTON, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team beat Hiram College, 136-123 in the Wilmington Natatorium Saturday afternoon. They are now 2-3 overall this season.

Sophomore Sondre Haugen, freshman Joakim Pedersen, and senior Cameron Bolen all won multiple individual events for the Quakers on Saturday as senior Dane Klosterman also won an individual event for Wilmington.

Haugen began his afternoon with a win in the 200 Meter Medley Relay, as he, Pedersen, Bolen, and John Good won in 1:50.31, besting second place by over 12 seconds. He won his first individual event in the 200 Meter Freestyle, a 2:01.03, which was over 10 seconds better than Hiram's David Slovenkay. He won the 100 Meter Butterfly at 1:00.83 and was a part of the winning 200 Meter Freestyle Relay team, swimming the first lap on a team that included Bolen, Klosterman and Good. The team won with a time of 1:40.05.

Pedersen swam the first lap on the winning 200 Meter Medley Relay team, and then went on to win the 200 Meter Backstroke in 2:20.34, over 11 seconds better than the runner up. He finished his day with a win in the 10 Meter IM at 1:01.41.

Bolen won two individual events and was a part of the winning 200 Meter Medley Relay and 200 Meter Freestyle Relay teams. He won the 100 Meter Breaststroke with a time of 1:08.18, taking the event by over six seconds. Bolen grabbed the 100 Meter Freestyle with a mark of 55.11, just beating out Hiram's Dayne Sauter at 55.58.

Klosterman was a part of the 200 Meter Freestyle Relay team and won the 100 Meter Backstroke for the Quakers with a time of 1:08.60, just under three seconds better than his competitors.

Quakers head coach Trip Breen was happy with his team's performance, "Both teams competed very well today. We had some great swims and I feel like the team is starting to put everything together. We still have a lot of work to do, but I am excited about the opportunity to compete the next two weekends."

The Quakers are back in the pool at the Wilmington Natatorium on November 11th at 1:00 P.M. when they battle the visiting Manchester University Spartans at 1:00 P.M.
