Men's Swimming Lapped by Mount Union Saturday Afternoon

(ALLIANCE, Ohio) – The Wilmington College men's swimming team lost an Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) dual on the road Saturday afternoon to the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders, 168-82. They are now 4-4 overall this season and 1-3 in the OAC.

In their first event of the day, the Quakers were just edged out by Mount Union in the 200 Yard Medley Relay as the team of Joakim Pedersen, Cameron Bolen, Sondre Haugen, and John Good posted a time of 1:39.41 to finish second. The Purple Raiders finished first at 1:39.15.

Haugen led Wilmington with a second-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle, swimming a time of 1:48.26, just under a second off first place (Jacob Hathaway, 1:47.47). Pedersen placed third in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 57.86.

In the 10th event of the day, the Quakers picked up their first win. Cameron Bolen brought home the victory in the 100 Yard Breaststroke at 1:00.95, besting second place by over two seconds.

John Good finished second in the 50 Yard Freestyle at 23.02, while the winning mark was 22.34. Bolen followed up his win with a second-place finish in the 100 Yard Freestyle at 49.35 seconds. Adam Moneypenny took third in the 200 Yard Breaststroke at 2:35.22.

The 500 Yard Freestyle saw Joakim Pedersen place second at 5:06.37. The Quakers had the top-three finishers in the 200 Yard IM, with Michael Phillippe winning at 2:16.08, Nathan Duerk in second at 2:25.02 and Izaia Billingsley in third with a time of 2:35.48.

The Quakers ended the day with a win in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay as Austin Reed, Dane Klosterman, Jake Stein, and Logan Lippert finished in 1:35.68.

Head coach Trip Breen had this to say after the meet, "Today we had an opportunity to have a few people to swim some different events and to race a longer format. The team has been training hard and we are a bit fatigued. Everyone is looking forward to continued fine tuning and the beginning of our taper in preparation for the OAC Championship meet."
