Wicks picks up OAC weekly honor

AUSTINTOWN, OH – The Ohio Athletic Conference has announced the league-wide Player of the Week honors for the week ending October 14.

Wilmington College junior Dan Wicks (Reading, OH/Reading) earned the men's soccer honor, marking the second straight week a WC player claimed the award in the sport. Last week, Drew Fields (Terrace Park, OH/Mariemont) was the recipient.

"Dan has really emerged as one of key leaders on and off the field," said head coach Bud Lewis. "His midfield play, and field leadership has been a big reason for success in conference play."

Wicks helped the Fightin' Quakers remain unbeaten in OAC action this week with two game-winning goals. His penalty kick in overtime gave Wilmington the 2-1 victory over Capital. He scored the second of three goals in WC's 3-1 win over Baldwin-Wallace.

The midfielder is tied for the lead with four goals, all of which were game-winning tallies. His 11 points leads the team.

Wilmington (9-4-1 overall, 4-0-1), which is in the midst of a seven-game unbeaten streak, travels to Otterbein 4 p.m. Tuesday in Ohio Athletic Conference action.
