WILMINGTON - The Wilmington College men's soccer team dropped a non-conference game Wednesday to Kenyon at Charlie Gilhart Field, 2-0.

"After the Earlham game, I thought we took a few steps forward," said head coach Bud Lewis. "But tonight, we took two steps backwards. Kenyon executed well. We struggled with ball control, possessing the ball. We got outplayed in the first half, and yet it was 0-0."

After surviving a first half in which the Lords had three opportunities with a free ball in the box in front of the goal, Wilmington wasn't as lucky in the second.

Kenyon scored the eventual game winner just 36 seconds into the second 90 minutes.

"We defended that throw-in horrendously," said Lewis.

In a game that grew physical, two red cards were issued - one on each team. However, the Fightin' Quakers were forced to play a man down for the majority of the second. The Kenyon pressure, and man advantage led to the Lords putting an insurance goal on the board with an own goal.

The visiting Lords outshot the hosts 17-6 and their aggressiveness around the goal led to a 4-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Wilmington (3-4 overall) travels to Defiance for a non-conference match with the Yellow Jackets.
