Football Heads to No. 25 Baldwin Wallace on Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College football team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) play with a trip to Baldwin Wallace University on Saturday. Kickoff from George Finnie Stadium is scheduled for 3 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Baldwin Wallace (BW). The Fightin' Quakers are looking for their first win of the 2021 fall season after falling 35-7 to Marietta College on Saturday. The Yellow Jackets are 5-1 overall and 4-1 in conference play after dispatching Muskingum University 49-10 in Zanesville over the weekend.

The Coaches: Bryan Moore, a 1999 graduate of Hiram College, begins his fifth season leading Wilmington's football program. Moore began instilling his vision on the program having brought in three large freshman classes, and that has paid off on the field with multiple victories each of the last two seasons. Previously, Moore spent time at both Bluffton University and Heidelberg. Jim Hilvert is also in his fifth season as Baldwin Wallace's head football coach. He's led the Yellow Jackets to 26 wins during that time.

The Offenses: Derek Larimer quarterbacks the Wilmington offense and averages over 210 yards per game through the air. His two favorite targets through half the season have been Itika Wynn Jr. and Ace Taylor, both of whom have hauled in double-digit receptions. Both Ben Hobbs and Dallas Rawlings have carries at least 35 times for over 125 yards. Keagan Armitage has thrown for over 600 yards through the air and four touchdowns, but BW does most of its damage on the ground. Jon Murray Jr. averages over 100 yards rushing and two touchdowns per game while four other Yellow Jackets have rushed for at least 100 yards.

The Defenses: A trio of Quakers – Jarod Lee, Tre'Quez Parks and Xzerious Stinnett – have nearly 30tackles for Wilmington's defense. Parks leads the team with 38 tackles for an average of nearly 10 per contest while Lee has a team-high two sacks. Elijah Carson and Quentin Davis have both intercepted two passes for the Quaker secondary. Nick Pankow, a senior linebacker, has a team-high 54 tackles for the Yellow Jacket defense while Jordan Smith has sacked or helped sack the quarterback on four drop backs. Iyan Mitchell has broken up five passes for the BW secondary.
