GRAND RAPIDS, Michigan - The Wilmington College women's cross country team concluded its 2019 season with a 20th place finish at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional meet held at Calvin University on Saturday afternoon.

Due to unsafe conditions on portions of the course, the women's race was shortened by 400 meters.

Milena Wahl was the top individual finisher for the Fightin' Quakers, crossing the finish line of the six-kilometer course in 23:05.7 for a 71st place finish. Fellow freshman Sydney Yontz placed 101st place with a time of 23:39.3. Sophomore Katie Hughes finished right behind her teammate (23:40.5).

"Our women race another strong race today," Head Women's Cross Country Coach Ron Combs said. "Our goal was to put three athletes in the top 100, so we were right there. The conditions were really tough and the course was sloppy, but they handled it very well."

Allison Helmke (24:13.8) and Savannah Rhodes (26:15.4) rounded out the Quakers' top five placers.

Individually, Evie Bultemeyer of Trine University won the regional championship with a time of 20:58.4. On the team side of things, John Carroll University won the team title with 83 points.
