Women's Cross Country to Compete at All-Ohio Meet Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's cross country team travels to Cedarville University for the 2019 All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championships on Saturday.

The Race: The six-kilometer championship race, at the Elvin R. King Cross Country Course, is scheduled to begin at 1:45 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington will be joined by many NCAA Division I, II and III institutions as well as NAIA schools from the state of Ohio.

The Coach: Ron Combs is in his 24th season as head cross country coach at Wilmington College. A 1993 graduate of Wilmington, Combs was a member of the only cross country team to win a conference title in school history. Also the head track & field coach at the College, Combs led the Fightin' Quakers to two top-10 finishes nationally with a sixth place finish at the 2002 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships and a seventh place mark at the 2004 Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Runners: Wilmington has run one six-kilometer course this year, which was two weeks ago at the Ohio Wesleyan Invitational. In that race, the Quakers had two freshman finish in Sydney Yontz and Milena Wahl who posted top-20 individual times. Yontz finished in the 17th and as the second freshman to cross the finish line with a time of 24:38.6 in the six-kilometer race. Wahl took 21st place with a time of 25:55.8 while teammate Katie Hughes placed 23rd with a mark of 25:07.8.
