ADA, Ohio – The Wilmington College women's soccer team held unbeaten Ohio Northern University scoreless through 90 minutes, but the Polar Bears scored the game-winning goal 90 seconds into overtime to claim a 1-0 triumph in Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) victory on Thursday evening.

The Polar Bears held a 17-2 edge in shots including a 10-1 edge in shots on goal. The Fightin' Quakers' lone shot on goal came off the foot of Heidi Edens a couple of minutes into the second half. Kristy Catrine made the save, however, keeping the game scoreless.

Shortly after, it was Wilmington netminder Lauren Galloway's turn to step up. The All-OAC selection from 2019 saved three ONU shots over the next 15 minutes. The Polar Bears kept the pressure up, firing five shots in the final five minutes, but another Galloway save on the only one on target forced overtime.

In overtime, Tara Morris scored the game-winning goal on the first shot of the period. Alex Hoeffel and Jill Roberts assisted on the play.

Galloway took the loss, despite making nine saves in the contest. Catrine made the one save to earn the win. Edens took both shots for Wilmington while Hoeffel, Roberts and Siena Ward all fired three shots for ONU.

Wilmington (1-1-2) returns to action on Sunday against Marietta College. Kickoff from Williams Stadium is slated for 2 p.m.
