Wrestling Back in OAC Action this Weekend

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College wrestling team begins the 2020-21 season as they hit the matt this weekend for OAC competition.  

The Schedule: Wilmington will travel to Ada, Ohio for a 1 p.m. start at ONU on Sunday, Jan. 24. 

The Teams: Wilmington, Ohio Northern and Heidelberg. Looking back to the last full season for the sport, The Fightin' Quakers finished the 2019-20 season with a 1-14 overall record. ONU went 14-8 overall, finishing 4th in the OAC. While Hiedelberg finished 5-12 overall, finishing 6th in the OAC.  

The Coaches: Justin Khin enters his third season as the Head Coach for the Quakers. Kihn comes to Wilmington after graduating and being an assistant coach at Heidelberg University. As an athlete, Khin was Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Wrestler of the Year his senior year, as well as Academic All-American and Division III All-American. He finished fourth nationally (in the 141 weight class) at the NCAA Championships.

The Players: The Fightin' Quakers return two upperclassmen from a year ago. Patrick Kelley (165 pound weight class), Junior from Kettering, Ohio, Kettering Fairmont High School, and Adrian Salomone (157 pound weight class), Sophomore from Bainbridge, Ohio, Paint Valley High School. Kihn also adds five other freshmen for the weekend. Jack Probus (133 pound weight class), Jake Scoville (141 pound weight class), Avery Blair (165 pound weight class), Elijah Wood (174 poiund weight class), Shadrach Brausch (285 pound weight class). 

COVID-19 Precautions: The OAC Presidents made the difficult decision to not allow any fans at athletic contests until at least March 1.
