Men's Cross Country to Dual Muskingum on Friday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's cross country team host Muskingum University for a dual meet at 6 p.m. on Friday.

The Teams: Wilmington and Muskingum. The Fightin' Quakers finished 5th-of-36 teams at the JennaStrong Fall Classic last Friday. The Fighting Muskies, who were also at the meet, placed 30th.

The Race: The five-kilometer course will be on the College's campus.

The Coach: Ron Combs is in his 24th season as head cross country coach at Wilmington College. A 1993 graduate of Wilmington, Combs was a member of the only cross country team to win a conference title in school history. Also the head track & field coach at the College, Combs led the Fightin' Quakers to two top-10 finishes nationally with a sixth place finish at the 2002 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships and a seventh place mark at the 2004 Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Runners: Wilmington has run one five-kilometer course this season – the Quaker Open on Aug. 30. Simon Heys (16:05.9), Evan Whitaker (16:16.1) and Ryan Honkomp (16:48.0) were the Quakers' top three finishers at the event.

OAC Runner of the Week: Simon Heys is the reigning OAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for his performance at the JennaStrong Fall Classic.
