Creditt accounts for three touchdowns

MARIETTA – Junior Luke Creditt accounted for all three scores as the Wilmington College football team fell to Marietta Saturday, 66-20, at Don Drumm Stadium in Ohio Athletic Conference action.

Creditt (Wilmington, OH/Waynesville) had two rushing touchdowns and a passing score. He was 20-of-29 for 229 yards, one touchdown and four interceptions.

Marietta took the lead 39 seconds into the contest, and led 37-0 at the end of the first quarter.

Wilmington scored on its first two possession of the second quarter, both one-yard runs from Creditt, to have a spark. The Pioneers stemmed the tide a little but with a touchdown of their own to push the lead back to 44-14.

Unfazed, Creditt hit junior P.J. Meyer (Cincinnati, OH/Elder) with a 63-yard touchdown pass, but a blocked extra point was taken 98-yard for two points, and Marietta's lead was 46-20. The Pioneers to a 60-20 lead into halftime, and cruised to the 66-23 victory.

Meyer finished with a career-high 155 yards on a career-best eight catches. He now has two 100-yard games this season.

Senior Mason Poland (Mechanicsburg, OH/Mechanicsburg) pulled down a career-high nine tackles and a blocked extra point. Freshman Bryan Gonzalez (Miami, FL/Jackson) added six tackles.

Wilmington (0-6 overall, 0-5 OAC) travels to top-ranked Mount Union 1:30 p.m. Saturday for another OAC contest.
