Women's Cross Country earns Academic Award

Team posted third highest GPA nationally

NEW ORLEANS – The Wilmington College women's cross country team picked up academic honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

"Making the All-Academic team is one of our team goals each season," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "Very proud of the work the girls did in their classes this year. It's a great accomplishment by a great group of girls to see their team GPA up near the top in Division III Cross Country."

The Fightin' Quakers posted the third highest grade point average in the country with a 3.73 GPA.

Overall, 207 women's team finished the semester with a 3.1 GPA or higher to earn the academic award. The University of Dubuque earned the top GPA (3.739), followed by Pomona-Pitzer (3.739) and Wilmington (3.7).
