BEREA – The Wilmington College women's cross country placed 10th of 10 teams in the Ohio Athletic Conference cross country championships Saturday.

"It's been a tough year for us, but I'm proud of the girls for hanging in there," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "Brooke Gibbons ran a very strong race for a girl, who essentially never ran high school cross country. She has a bright future ahead of her."

Freshman Brooke Gibbons (Pleasant Plain, OH/Blanchester) was the top Wilmington runner, finishing 37th (24:19.2). Senior Mary Krebs (Kettering, OH/Alter) finished the course in 26:25.0 to place 59th.

Junior Stephanie Fetters (West Milton, OH/Milton-Union) was 64th with the time of 28:34.1, and was followed by Julianna Simon (Covington, OH/Covington) in 65th (29:01.1). The final Wilmington runner was freshman Alexis Rhodes (Old Fort, OH/Old Fort), placing 67th in 30:36.3.

It's the final team race for the Fightin' Quakers, although a couple of runners will compete in the Great Lakes Regional race on November 14.
