The Wilmington College women's cross country team fell to Thomas More 4-6 Tuesday in a dual relay meet on the Wilmington College campus.

Each runner ran a two-mile loop, and then their partner would run a two-mile loop with each athlete running the loop two times.

"I though we were competitive in the women's race," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "Our top relay team was made up of two freshmen. I enjoyed the old school relay-style format that we used. Not that many schools do dual meets anymore, but everyone liked the format. It was a good was to kick off the competitive season. We are excited about Franklin coming up on Saturday. We will know a lot more about our team after Saturday's meet."

The pair of Brooke Gibbons (Pleasant Plain, OH/Blanchester) and Alexis Rhodes (Old Fort, OH/Old Fort) finished second with the time of 56:12, and the pairing of Stephanie Fetters (West Milton, OH/Milton-Union) and Mary Krebs (Kettering, OH/Alter) finished fourth in 59:24.
