TIFFIN – The Wilmington College women's cross country team placed fourth of five teams in the Heidelberg Cross Country Invitational.

"I'm glad we ran a full girls team tonight," said Wilmington head coach Ron Combs. "It's just going to be a tough rebuilding process for us. I like the group we have; they come to practice everyday with a good attitude. I'm curious to see how much we can improve before the end of the season."

Freshman Brooke Gibbons (Pleasant Plain, OH/Blanchester) was the first Wilmington runner to finish, placing 12th overall with the time of 21:46.9. Freshman Alexis Rhodes (Old Fort, OH/Old Fort) and senior Mary Krebs (Kettering, OH/Alter) finished 14th (23:11.1) and 15th (23:15.9), respectively.

Junior Stephanie Fetters (West Milton, OH/Milton-Union) was the fourth WC runner, placing 17th in 23:26.4), and senior Julianna Simon (Covington, OH/Covington) rounded out the scoring with a 23rd place finish in 28:11.

Wilmington now has a couple weeks before returning to action on September 26 at the Dickinson Invitational.
