SEASON PREVIEW: Women's Soccer

SEASON PREVIEW: Women's Soccer

After missing the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament in back-to-back seasons for the first time in school history, the Wilmington College women's soccer team is ready to return to its back to prominence.

"The Wilmington College Women's Soccer program is very excited about the upcoming season and the potential of our program," said Wilmington head coach Steve Spirtk. "We have seven returning starters along with veteran players, and a very talented incoming class.  Wilmington expects to get back to its "winning ways"."

Most of WC's experience will be in the back third as starters Morgan Combs (Tipp City, OH/Tippecanoe), Alyssa Reule (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) and Ashley Stockton (Waynesville, OH/Waynesville) all return.

Sophomores Stephanie Randolph (Monroe, OH/Monroe) and Courtney Fernandez (Huber Heights, OH/Wayne) also played considerable minutes in the back for Wilmington last season.

They will help anchor a defense that will be breaking in a new goalkeeper for the fourth straight season. Sophomore Ana Hosler (Blanchester, OH/Blanchester) played in six games last season with two starts. She allowed eight goals, posting a GAA of 1.90, and is the lone returner between the pipes.

Junior Taylor Scott (Lynchburg, OH/Lynchburg Clay) returns for her third season after leading the team with eight goals and 19 points in 2013. She had two multi-goal games. Wilmington was 5-0-1 in games Scott tallied a goal. The Fightin' Quakers were 2-11 in games in which she didn't score.

After missing most of last season with an injury, senior Erika Good (Miamisburg, OH/Miamisburg) will be an important component to the midfield. Good started in all three games she appeared in last season, while playing 15 games with five starts two seasons ago.

Sophomore Melonee Hall (Beavercree, OH/Beavercreek) started all 19 games and returns to the midfield, while senior Kala Fox (Ashland, OH/Hillsdale), who played in 10 games in a reserve role.
