BEREA – Playing their third road game in seven days, the Wilmington College women's soccer team got off to a slow start and fell to Baldwin Wallace, 4-1, Monday in the quarterfinals of the Ohio Athletic Conference tournament.
Sophomore Ashley Lovett (Washington Court House, OH/Washington Senior) scored the only Wilmington goal. She tallied an unassisted goal in the 71st minute to cut the BW lead to 4-1.
The Yellow Jackets scored just 2:02 in the game, and Baldwin Wallace added a second game in the 14th minute. The host added a goal in the 36th and 61st minutes to take the 4-0 lead.
Freshman Brittany Ross (Covington, OH/Newton) played the first 45 minutes, allowing three goals on three shots. Freshman Sarah Sparks (Norwood, OH/Norwood) made her first appearance of the season, playing the entire second half. Sparks allowed one goal on four shots.
Junior Taylor Scott (Lynchburg, OH/Lynchburg-Clay) and Lovett combined for six of Wilmington's 12 shots in the defeat.
Wilmington finished the season at 10-8-1.
