Softball Places Three on All-OAC Teams

AUSTINTOWN, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team had three individuals earn All-Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) honors as the league released its All-OAC softball teams on Monday.

Hayley Suchland earned Second Team All-OAC honors at shortstop while KenDahl Bowles and Grace Shell garnered Honorable Mention All-OAC honors at third base and pitcher respectively.

"It's very exciting for these three young ladies to be selected by our conference coaches to earn All-OAC honors," Head Softball Coach Beth Floyd said. "Our conference is very talented and this is a huge honor for them individually and for our program."

Suchland, a freshman, led the Fightin' Quakers in several offensive categories including at bats (105), hits (43), RBIs (21), stolen bases (11) and batting average (.410). Her marks in batting average, hits and stolen bases are top ten single-season performances in program history.

Bowles was one of the best defensive infielders in the OAC with 56 putouts, 54 assists and a .965 fielding percentage. The junior also hit a .313 clip and also drove in 20 runs.

Shell, twice named OAC Pitcher of the Week, led Wilmington in nearly every pitching category. Her ERA of 2.42 was second in the conference and her 89 strikeouts were fourth in the league. Both marks are top 10 in Wilmington single-season history along Shell's 10 victories, marking just the third time a Quaker pitcher crossed the double-digit wins plateau.

Wilmington finished its 2019 season with an 18-14 overall record, marking the second time in program history (20-16 in 2012) the Quakers have achieved a winning record. Additionally, the program's 6-12 OAC record is the second-best (8-10 in 2014) record in Wilmington's 19 years in the league.
