Softball Hosts Heidelberg for Senior Day Saturday

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team concludes its 2019 season by hosting Heidelberg University for Senior Day this Sunday. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and Heidelberg. The Quakers are 17-13 on the season, 5-11 in OAC competition and are looking to snap a four-game losing streak in which they have lost three of those via a walk-off hit. The Student Princes are 13-21 overall and also 5-11 in OAC play and recently split a series with the University of Rio Grande on Wednesday.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 12th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and is also the College's associate director of athletics. Floyd has led the Quakers to seven double-digit win campaigns as well as the program's first winning season with a 20-16 record in 2013. Kelli Williams is in her third season at Heidelberg and has a career record of 147-134-1.

The Hitters: Hayley Suchland leads Wilmington with a .414 batting average to go along with a team-high 41 hits. She is also tied with KenDahl Bowles for the squad lead in RBIs with 19. Allison Pierce had hit 10 doubles to lead the Quakers while Megan Crager has scored 24 runs. Casey Moore leads the Student Princes' offense with 17 RBIs, four home runs and a .433 batting average. Stephanie Drapp also hits over a .400 clip (.414) while Joanna Catalano has hit seven doubles.

The Pitchers: Grace Shell is looking to snap a four-game losing streak as the sophomore is 9-8 with a 2.58 ERA in 103 innings pitched. She also leads Wilmington in strikeouts with 85. Alexis Stringfellow and Suchland have split game two starting duties for the Quakers thus far this season. Drapp is also Heidelberg's No. 1 pitcher has she's pitched over 110 innings with a 3.62 ERA and 44 strikeouts.

Series History: Wilmington is 7-13 against Heidelberg in the last decade with the Student Princes winning the last eight meetings. More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.

Senior Day: The doubleheader marks the final collegiate games of both Allison Pierce and Micalah Hensley. A brief ceremony for the two will be held prior the the first pitch of game one.
