Softball Travels to Baldwin Wallace Saturday

SERIES HISTORY

WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College softball team continues Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) action at Baldwin Wallace University (BW) on Saturday. Game time for the two-game series is slated for 1 p.m.

The Teams: Wilmington and BW. The Fightin' Quakers are 14-6 overall and 2-4 in OAC play after falling in two games at Ohio Northern University on Tuesday. The Yellow Jackets are 19-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play after splitting a series with the University of Mount Union on Saturday.

The Coaches: Beth Floyd is in her 12th season as Wilmington's softball head coach. She is the winningest softball coach in school history and is also the College's associate director of athletics. Floyd has led the Quakers to seven double-digit win campaigns as well as the program's first winning season with a 20-16 record in 2013. Tom Spencer is in his 15th season as BW's head coach and is approaching his 300th victory.

The Hitters: Hayley Suchland leads Wilmington in batting average as the freshman hits a .446 clip as well as leading the squad in hits with 29 and stolen bases with seven. KenDahl Bowles, Alecia Kemp and Allison Pierce have all driven in 14 or more runs. Pierce leads the team with eight doubles while Kemp has hit two home runs. Alecis Boledovic leads BW with a .513 batting average to go along with 10 doubles, four riples, three home runs and 27 RBIs. Alex Kozich also hits a high percentage at a .484 clip with 21 RBIs.

The Pitchers: Grace Shell has a 7-2 record for Wilmington with eight complete games. The sophomore carries a 1.58 ERA in 66.1 innings pitched with 57 strikeouts. Both Alexis Stringfellow and Suchland have pitched over 25 innings for the Quakers and have ERAs of 3.28 and 4.67 respectively. Nikki Camarati has pitched over half the innings in the circle for BW. The freshman has a 1.50 ERA in 70 innings pitched with 78 strikeouts and 34 walks.

OAC Players of the Week: Both Grace Shell and Allison Pierce took home OAC Pitcher and Hitter of the Week honors respectively last week.

Series History: Wilmington is 8-12 against BW in the last decade with both teams winning five games in the last 10 meetings.  More information on the series history can be viewed by visiting the link above.
