Men's Cross Country Opens the 2023 Season at the DIII National Championship Course

WILMINGTON, Ohio - The Wilmington College men's cross country team opens the 2023 cross country season in Shelbyville, Indiana. The opening race of the season will be a sneak peak at the DIII National Championships course, as the Quakers will take on Blue River Park.  

The Schedule: The 5,000-meter races shoot off at 10:00 AM on Saturday. 

The Competition: The Quakers go head-to-head against other Division III competition. 

The Coach: Ron Combs enters his 28th season as head cross country coach at Wilmington College. A 1993 graduate of Wilmington, Combs was a member of the only cross country team to win a conference title in school history. Also the head track & field coach at the College, Combs led the Fightin' Quakers to two top-10 finishes nationally with a sixth place finish at the 2002 NCAA Division III Men's Indoor Track & Field Championships and a seventh place mark at the 2004 Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships.

The Squad: The squad will be highlighted by 2022 National Qualifiers Simon Heys and Noah Tobin. Both runners return the season after running at the DIII National Championships. Junior, Eric Reynolds, and Sophomore duo of Tate Yoder and Gabe Moore will add depth to the squad.
