National Qualifier Simon Heys Heads to NCAA DIII Outdoor Championship

WILMINGTON, Ohio -  Simon Heys will travel solo to Greensboro, North Carolina to represent the Wilmington track & field team in the 10,000-meter run at the NCAA Division III National Outdoor Championship. 

Time of Event: Heys will race under the lights as the gun is set to go off at 9:15 PM on Thursday, May 27th. This will be the first day of events and the last event of day 1. 

Athlete Background: Simon Heys qualified for the 10,000-meter run in his first and only attempt of his season. He ran a 29:54, good enough for top 10 in the country in Division III, and shattered the previous Wilmington record. 

The Coach: Ron Combs continues his 23rd season as the head coach of Wilmington's men's and women's track and field teams. Combs has been named Coach of the Year, twice by the Heartland Athletic Conference, and once by the OAC. In 2002, he led the men's indoor team to a sixth-place finish at NCAA DIII Championships.
