TIFFIN, Ohio – The Wilmington College men's track and field closed out the regular season on a high note at Hoernemann Stadium. The team racked up 153 points throughout the day and secured first place over the rest of the field. Muskingum University finished second, followed by Heidelberg University and Baldwin Wallace University respectively.

 

The duo of Evan Whitaker (9:42.84) and George Rickett (9:51.33) started the day strong as they went one and two in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Eric Reynolds ran a season best in the 1,500-meter run in a seventh-place finish of 4:10 flat. Freshman Aidan Henson continued to shine as he took first place in the 400-meter dash (51.65). Simon Heys placed third in the 800-meter run just missing the sub two-minute mark in a 2:00.04 effort. Austin Wampler (16:39.83) and Tyler Parks (16:47.02) went two-three in the 5,000-meter run to cap off the individual track scoring for the Quakers.

 

The Quakers sent two relays to the line and both teams came away with top three finishes. In the 4-x-800-meter relay, the team of Rickett, Heys, Reynolds and Henson came away with a close victory. The 4-x-400-meter relay placed second scoring eight points for the team.

 

Wilmington saw multiple top three finishes from the jump squad. All three jumpers took second place in their events: Anthony Gilmore in high jump, Chas O'Connell in pole vault and Henson in long jump.

 

The throwers, once again, dominated the field. Joe Shuga was unstoppable as he won all three of the events he competed in: shotput (45' 4.1"), discus (141' 5.3") and hammer (174' 2.5"). Shuga is currently ranked top ten in all three events in the conference. In discus, the men went 1-2-3 with the group of Shuga, Blake Jamison and Nate Marcum. That was not enough as they went 1-2-3-8 in hammer with the group of Shuga, Andrew Pacifico, Marcum and Alex Dewey. Pacifico launched a four-meter personal best with a throw of 174' 1". Sam Eastes and Marcum closed out the day for the Quakers with 2nd and 3rd place finishes respectively in javelin.
