Five Men's Track & Field Individuals Garner All-Great Lakes Region Honors

USTFCCCA ALL-REGION HONOREES

NEW ORLEANS, Lousiana - The Wilmington College men's track & field team had five individuals earn six All-Great Lakes Region honors handed out by the United States Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

In order to garner All-Region honors, individuals needed to be top five in their respective events in each region. Simon Heys garnered All-Region honors in two events, the 5,000-meter run (at the OAC Elite Meet) and the 10,000-meter run (at the Sparky Adams Invitational). A trio of Quakers - Nate Marcum, Andrew Pacifico and Joe Shuga - finished in the top five in the region in the hammer throw. Additionally, Blake Jamison's heave of 154' 8" at the University of Mount Union in the discus garnered him All-Region honors.

Wilmington finished the 2021 outdoor season fifth at the OAC Championships, the program's highest finish in eight seasons. Heys' mark in the 10,000-meter run qualifies him to compete in the event at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships held in Greensboro, North Carolina, on May 27-29.
