TIFFIN – The Wilmington College men's basketball team was outscored by 18 points in the second half, and fell to Heidelberg Wednesday, 90-67, in Ohio Athletic Conference action at Seiberling Gymnasium.
It's Wilmington's fifth consecutive loss as the Fightin' Quakers fall to 1-7 overall, 0-4 in the OAC.
Wilmington, which trailed by just five at halftime, stayed within striking distance for the early part of the second half. However, the Fightin' Quakers made just one basket in a nine-minute stretch of the game. By the time they got out of their offensive funk, the deficit was 26 points.
Senior Zach McCorkle (Cincinnati, OH/Winton Woods) and junior Malcolm Pittman (Dayton, OH/Huber Heights Wayne) each finished with 12 points and four rebounds. It was a career-high for Pittman, who added two blocks.
Sophomore D.J. Iles (Fayetteville, OH/Fayetteville Perry) added nine points, while sophomore Christian Jones (Hamilton, OH/Hamilton) dished out a team-high three assists to go along with seven points.
Wilmington travels to Berea 3 p.m. Saturday to play Baldwin Wallace in OAC action.
