(WILMINGTON, Ohio) - The Wilmington College football team fell to the University of Mount Union Purple Raiders Saturday afternoon in Williams Stadium, 69-0. The Quakers are now 3-4 overall this season and 2-4 in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC).
The Purple Raiders took a 28-0 lead after the first quarter, with the Quakers not able to get anything going offensively. Wilmington picked up their first, first down of the game during their drive with 5:55 remaining in the first quarter, with their drive eventually fizzling out at their own 49-yard line.
Their first drive of the second quarter looked promising, as they used a pass interference penalty to get down to the Mount Union 29-yard line. They wouldn't pick up any points though as the Purple Raiders took a 49-0 lead into the halftime break.
Wilmington's best chance to score came early in the fourth quarter, as they drove the ball down to the Purple Raider 6-yard line, with help from a Demarco Owens 24-yard run. Unfortunately, a few incomplete passes halted the drive as they turned it over on downs.
