WILMINGTON, Ohio - Tavion Bryant, a senior on the Wilmington College football team, earned a spot on the Second Team Defense as D3Football.com released its All-America teams on Monday.

Bryant, a native of Columbus, Ohio, and a graduate of Beechcroft High School, was one of three linebackers on the second team alongside Shane Quin of Ohio Wesleyan University and Mikkah Hackett of the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. This award comes after winning the Ohio Athletic Conference's (OAC) Gene Slaughter Award as the league's top linebacker as well as earned All-OAC Defensive recognition.

"To be selected as the OAC Linebacker of the Year and to follow that up with this All-American honor is a tremendous accomplishment," Head Football Coach Bryan Moore said. "He was part of our first recruiting class and believed in this coaching staff when there wasn't a real reason to. He stuck it out through some pretty 'tuff' days, yet continues to change the culture of our program, improve the College with his service off the field and deliver a first-class person of high character to our community."

The leader of the Wilmington linebacking core, Bryant tallied 31 tackles during the 2021 spring season including a team-high six for loss. The Beechcroft High School alumnus had a critical second-half interception that fueled the team's 17-10 comeback win at Otterbein University on March 19 and also forced a fumble and had a sack in a loss at Ohio Northern University on April 2.

Wilmington finished its shortened 2021 spring season with a 2-3 record.
