WILMINGTON, Ohio – The Wilmington College football team concludes its 2021 spring season with the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) Crossover Game at Marietta College on Friday evening. Kickoff Don Drumm Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
The Teams: Wilmington and Marietta. The Fightin' Quakers are 2-2 on the season and coming off a bye week last weekend. Wilmington began the year with victories over two Columbus schools (Capital University and Otterbein University) and fell to two Northwest Ohio institutions (Ohio Northern University and Heidelberg University) in its last two games. The Pioneers are also 2-2 on the season and most recently defeated Muskinum University last Friday.
The Coaches: Bryan Moore, a 1999 graduate of Hiram College, begins his fourth season leading Wilmington's football program. Moore began instilling his vision on the program having brought in three large freshman classes. Additioanlly, he led the Quakers to the program's best record in over a decade in 2019. Previously, Moore spent time at both Bluffton University and Heidelberg. Andy Waddle, a 2003 graduate of Wittenberg University, is in his eighth season as Marietta's head coach. The Pioneers have had a winning record each of his last three seasons.
The Offenses: Kyle Barrett is in his third year quarterbacking the Wilmington offense in the spring of 2021. He averages over 300 yards per game through the air and has a completion percentage of 56.7 percent. His favorite target, Itika Wynn Jr., has hauled in 30 receptions for over 400 yards and five touchdowns. Both Malik Sims and Yvan Tientcheu have rushed for over 125 yards on the ground. The Marietta offense relies heavily on Bryce Agnew offensively. Agnew averages nearly 20 carries a game for over 107 yards while also scoring six touchdowns. Quarterback Ethan Brown averages under 100 yards per game through the air.
The Defenses: A quartet of Quakers – Tre'Quez Parks, Jarod Lee, Xzerious Stinnett and Tavion Bryant – have all tallied over 20 tackles for the Wilmington defense. All four individuals also have a sack as well as an interception while Jalaun Covington and Brandon Weaver each have two sacks. Vic Giovengo and Kyler Folkert lead a stout Pioneer defense with over 30 tackles each while Drake Neuberger has a team-best seven tackles.
