Mike Wallace Returns to Football Staff

WILMINGTON, Ohio - A familiar face will join the Wilmington College football coaching staff as Mike Wallace, who formerly led the program, will serve as a special assistant to Head Coach Bryan Moore while also working with the offense.

"It is truly a unique opportunity to have Coach Wallace joining our staff, and to get a former head coach to come back and want to be a part of what we are trying to build here is special," Moore said. "Coach Wallace did some great thing for this program when the entered the OAC back in 2000 and was a great mentor to me when I took this job three years ago. Our alumni that played for Coach Wallace have a deep connection with him and the impact he made on their lives. He has continued to have success while coaching at Dayton the past few years, and I know our current roster will only benefit from his experiences. In a time where leadership is at a premium, I can't think of anyone who would be a better fit for us right now than Coach Wallace."

Wallace comes to Wilmington for the second time from the University of Dayton where he worked as tight ends coach for five seasons. Prior to that, Wallace worked at his alma mater, Wilmington High School, as director of athletics from 2004-12.

During his first tenure at the College, Wallace was head football coach from 1991-2004. During that time, he led the Fightin' Quakers through three conferences - the Association of Mideast Colleges (MAC), the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) and Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) - while also being an independent institutions for several years. Wallace's best two seasons were at the turn of the century. In 1999, he led Wilmington to a near-perfect 9-1 season in the final year in the HCAC. One year later, Wallace guided the Quakers to a 7-3 mark in the OAC with all victories coming in conference competition. To date, that's the program's best finish in over two decades in the league. Additionally, Wallace's 53 victories are second-most in school history.
