Calvin wins 2014 Great Lakes Cross Country Regionals

MASON, OH – Calvin sophomore Cassandra Vince led the Knights, who scored 61 points, to the 2014 NCAA Division III Women’s Great Lakes Regional championship held at the Golf Center at Kings Island Saturday. Vince won the race, completing the 6K course in 21:01.1 as the Knights had three harriers finish in the top eight. Sophomore Lauren Strohbehn (fourth, 21:36.3) and senior Sarah Danner (eighth, 22:06.0) were the other two Calvin runners in the top eight. Rounding out the Knights’ scoring were senior Kimy Penning (23rd, 22:28.6) and senior Kate Ardinger (25th, 22:29.2). Oberlin senior Emma Lehman finished second in the time of 21:23.5 and teammate senior Lindsay Neal was third with the time of 21:31.4. Albion senior Jessica Shaw rounded out the top five with the time of 21:40.9. Rounding out the top ten were Alma sophomore Kaitlyn Arnold (21:54.8), Oberlin senior Sarah Jane Kerwin (21:57.5), Ohio Wesleyan sophomore Sarah Fowler (22:08.0) and Mount Union junior Catie Campbell (22:09.3). Oberlin finished second with 73 points, followed by Mount Union (161), Hope (165) and Case Western Reserve (192). Rounding out the top 10 were Otterbein (198), DePauw (221), John Carroll (235), Ohio Wesleyan (248), Hanover (314) and Heidelberg (314).
